Ugandan man gets 10-year jail sentence for defiling 13-year-old girl in Kiambu

A 24-year-old Ugandan man has been sentenced to 10 years in jail for defiling a 13-year-old girl in Kiambu County two years ago.

A Kiambu court, while finding Derrick Kitima guilty, heard that he committed the offenvce on August 12, 2023.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) presented five witnesses to testify against the accused, hence proving its case beyond reasonable doubt.

“Senior Principal Magistrate Hon. M.A. Opondo noted that the minor was affected psychologically and her performance in school had dropped and directed that the minor be taken to specialists for treatment and counseling,” stated the ODPP in a statement on Friday.
