Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii orders headcount of all county workers
Uasin Gishu Governor Jonathan Bii Chelilim
has ordered a head count of all county workers in a bid to root out any ghost
employees that might be on the county government's payroll.
The exercise will take place on Monday
according to Bii, popularly known as ‘Koti Moja, who said any employee found
absent from their work station then will be considered as non-existent.
Bii likewise rubbished reports that he is
allegedly using his position to irregularly offer county jobs to some of his
acquaintances, noting that only his deputy and chief of staff have secured jobs
in his government.
Other available positions, he said, will be
filled once a vigorous recruitment exercise is conducted by Uasin Gishu County
to identify qualified personnel.
Koti Moja correspondingly urged individuals
who have been camping outside his office in search of employment to wait for
the official process to commence as his government begins to gradually address
some of the challenges facing area residents.
The newly-elected Governor also raised alarm
that he had yet to see county government tractors ordered to repair dilapidated
roads in the region since he assumed office, noting that he will personally
follow up on the matter.
He also warned county askaris against
harassing residents while performing their duties noting that they will face
legal action if found guilty of such allegations.
