Two suspects arrested as police intensify search for missing ex-Treasury official Tom Osinde
Detectives leading the search for former National
Treasury employee Tom Osinde, who allegedly went missing on Sunday last week,
have arrested two suspects in connection to his disappearance.
Confirming
the reports, Rongai DCIO Donnata Otieno said the suspects presently in
custody are some of the employees of a farm in Trans Mara West, Narok County, where
Osinde’s vehicle was found on Saturday.
“We
were conducting a search from the homestead of the victim, the farm is over 10
acres and we went through seven acres and nothing has been recovered,” said the
DCIO.
“We
have two suspects in custody but they are assisting us in our investigations.”
Regarding
the recovery of Osinde’s black Toyota Land Cruiser last week,
Otieno said officers are still combing the 10 acres of land where the vehicle was
found but are yet to find him.
She
said they‘re still confident of finding the ex-Treasury employee, adding that
no stone will be left unturned in the search.
“The
victim is a public figure, a human being and our core value is to protect life
and property, we will search and trace his whereabouts whether dead or alive,”
Otieno stated.
According
to the DCIO, sleuths are holding the suspects on allegations of abducting
Osinde, but the probe is still on.
“Right
now we cannot say he is dead, the suspects are held in allegations of
abduction. We have been at the farm for close to 3 hours, the probability
whether he is dead or alive...we are looking for a grave or septic tank,” she said.
Osinde is
said to have been travelling from Nakuru to Kisii before his mysterious
disappearance on June 18, 2023.
