Two suspects arrested as NACADA nabs illicit drugs in Machakos

Illicit drugs nabbed by NACADA officers in Kabaa Village, Machakos County.

Two suspected bhang traffickers have been arrested following a raid by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) at a homestead in Kabaa Village, Machakos County.

During the raid led by Senior Superintendent of Police Nicholas Kosgei, NACADA enforcement officers recovered a stash of illicit drugs including 20 brooms and 87 sticks of bhang. Drug paraphernalia such as Rizla rolling papers, scissors, and cash believed to be proceeds of crime were also seized.

The suspects were arraigned in court on Thursday and charged with trafficking in narcotic drugs.

NACADA CEO Dr Anthony Omerikwa commended the swift action by the enforcement team and the vital support from the community.

“This arrest sends a strong message to drug traffickers and peddlers that their days are numbered,” he said. “We are not relenting in our mission to dismantle drug networks across the country. No matter how remote the location, if you traffic drugs, we will find you.”

Dr. Omerikwa also urged the public to continue supporting NACADA’s initiatives by reporting drug-related activities anonymously through the Authority’s toll-free hotline 1192. He emphasized that community collaboration remains a critical tool in the national fight against drug abuse.

NACADA confirmed that similar operations will be intensified in the coming weeks as part of a broader effort to disrupt narcotic distribution networks nationwide.
