Two senior administrators on spot for assaulting pub worker and reveller in Murang’a

Two senior administrators in Kiharu Constituency, Murang'a County are on the spot for attacking patrons and workers in a pub in Murang'a town leaving them nursing injuries.

In circulated videos that have sparked outrage, the two officers descended on Oceanic Hotel and Restaurant around 5:00 am on Saturday morning, March 22, and began harassing everyone around.

Consequently, a worker at the pub and a female patron sustained dire injuries and were admitted to the Murang'a level 5 Hospital.

In the video, an officer is spotted attacking Kelvin Mungai, the pub manager, several times and knocking him to the ground.

Mungai's father, James 'Kamlesh' Waweru, the owner of the establishment added that his son also sustained injuries on the head, back, legs and hands.

He was admitted at Murang'a level 5 over the weekend and has since been discharged.

Speaking to the media outside the premises, Kamlesh and a former civic leader in the area accused the two administrators of being drunk and disorderly.

"The two ACCs who were very drunk came to the premises early on Saturday morning after a drinking spree elsewhere and started harassing everyone without any provocation. They also appeared to be targeting my son," said Waweru.

Kamlesh accused Muthoni of targeting him and his business after he complained to the Murang'a County Commissioner about extortion by some of his administration team last year.

He alleged that the Assistant County Commissioner warned him of dire consequences and since then has raided his premises on four different occasions.

In a CCTV clip, one of the administrators is heard ordering the manager to reduce the TV volume while the other suggested they should have all the drinks in the pub carted away.

He called for immediate action to be taken against the two, terming it as impunity by government officials.

Efforts to reach Murang'a County Commissioner Joshua Nkanatha for a comment were futile.

Further, the new Kiharu district county commissioner Charles Mureithi said that the matter was under investigation and will provide a comprehensive report on Wednesday.
