Two Migori MCAs suspended for two months over 'unruly' behaviour
Two members of the
Migori County Assembly have been suspended from the House for two months for
allegedly breaching the rules and regulations.
Migori County Assembly
Speaker Owino Likoa said North Kadem Ward Representative Olima Obonyo and his East
Kanyamkago Ward counterpart Norman Ogolla were kicked out for being unruly.
The two however
claim the move is because they questioned how the county assembly and the Executive
wing are spending public funds.
MCAs Olima and
Ogolla claim that the county assembly leadership has opted to frustrate them
because of their stand against alleged massive corruption in the House and the
county Executive.
The duo alleged that
they have documents that reveal how the county assembly and the Executive plundered
public funds, and that they’re going to ensure they involve relevant agencies
including the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Speaker Likoa said
the two MCAs became unruly during the Tuesday debate and he had no option but
to suspend them from the House activities.
He said the Assembly
is guided by rules and therefore any person who violates them must be subjected
to the necessary action.
The Speaker further
dismissed allegations of corruption at the county assembly, urging the
complainants to invite EACC officers to investigate the assembly.
