Two killed, several injured in Machakos road accident

Two people lost their lives on Friday evening following a road accident involving a 14-seater matatu and a Toyota Probox at Kaseve area, along the Machakos-Kitui Road.

Reports indicate that the driver of the Probox, en route to Kitui, lost control of the vehicle, swerving into the opposite lane and colliding head-on with the matatu which was heading towards Machakos.

The Probox’s driver and another occupant died instantly, while the matatu passengers sustained varying injuries.

The survivors were rushed to Machakos Level V Hospital for treatment, while local police processed and cleared the scene.

The bodies of the deceased have been moved to the hospital's morgue pending identification and postmortem, while the vehicle wreckages were towed to Machakos Police Station for inspection.
