Two killed in Bungoma building collapse
Two people lost their lives on Friday after a building collapsed at Kanduyi Market in Bungoma County.
The building was partially demolished last week by the Bungoma County government to pave way for the expansion and renovation of the Masinde Muliro Stadium which will host this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.
The
duo, Geoffrey Musungu, 20, and Alvin Nakitare, 17, reportedly became trapped
inside the building while attempting to collect scrap metal.
The two were rescued from the debris but succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident while receiving treatment.
Preliminary medical reports suggest that they died due to excessive bleeding.
Bungoma County Governor , Kenneth Lusaka has ordered an investigation to establish the circumstances leading to the collapse of the building.
