Two arrested over livestock theft in Nyahururu

Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the rising cases of livestock theft in Nyahururu and Ol-Joro Orok areas.

The two suspects, a man and a woman, were arrested separately in an operation initiated by locals in Nyahururu.

One of the suspects, a 24-year-old man, was captured by residents from Huhoine village who were taking vigil, as his accomplice escaped.

According to James Wambugu, the suspects were in the process of invading one of the neighbouring homes with the intent to steal livestock.

The arrested suspect led them to Subukia in Nakuru County, where a woman was arrested in connection with receiving and selling off stolen livestock.

The pair was handed to the police and has since been locked in at Losogwa Police station in Nyahururu Sub County, where they are assisting with the investigation.

Igwamiti Ward MCA Irene Wachuka and local residents want security beefed up and a police vehicle deployed to the Losogwa Police Station to assist in tracking down suspects and conducting police patrols.

This follows a series of livestock thefts in the area, leaving residents counting losses and living in fear.
