Police in Narok County have arrested two individuals for vandalizing a public bridge under construction over the Ewaso Nyiro River and stealing metal beams from the   site.

The suspects, Peter Mwangi and Jane Ndung’u Mtua, were apprehended by officers from Ntulele Police Station after local residents alerted them to the presence of a white lorry, Reg. No. KBY 213H, loading the stolen beams.

The officers subsequently jumped into action, trailing and intercepting the lorry at the Nairegie-Enkare junction.

“The driver, Peter Mwangi, along with his accomplice, Joyce Ndungu Mtua, were arrested and together with the lorry were escorted to Ntulele Police Station for processing and immediate legal action,” the Directorate of the Criminal Investigations (DCI) said in a statement on Friday.

“Multiple structural metal beams were seized during the operation.”

Furthermore, the agency warned Kenyans that vandalizing critical infrastructure will not be tolerated and will be met with the full force of the law.
