Two arraigned for attempting to defraud Festive Bread

Two people were on Thursday  arraigned in a Nairobi court  and charged with defrauding the Festive Bread Company.

It is alleged that between April 14 and July 15, this year, Anand Kumar Nharaktumat Modi and Keval Umit Shar conspired with the intent to defraud Festive Bread Company against the law.

Anand Kumar Bharatkumat Modi and Keval Umit Shar, who appeared before Milimani law courts magistrate Bernard Ochoi, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

They are charged with three counts of fraud: making a document without authority, and uttering a document in violation of the law.

It is alleged that they committed the offense on various dates between April 15, 2021 and July 14, 2021, at an unknown location within the country, in collaboration with others who were not before the court.

They allegedly uploaded a forged application for cancellation of permit document for Mr AnandKumar Bharatkumat Modi dated April 28, 2021 to the immigration online work permit portal in order to commit a fraud.

They are said to have represented the document as genuine, duly signed and issued by the director of DPL Festive ltd, despite knowing it was false.

They were released on a cash bail of Ksh. 30,000.
