Two alleged owners of Embakasi Gas plant that killed 10 granted Ksh.1 M bail each

Accused persons in Embakasi explosion take plea.

Two men alleged to be the owners of the gas plant that explored in February this year in Embakasi were arraigned in court on Monday morning and charged with 11 criminal counts.

The two, Derrick Kimathi Nyamu and Stephen Kilonzo Muite have pleaded not guilty to operating a bulk LPG storage facility without a valid license from EPRA.

It is alleged that on February 1, 2024, at Mradi estate in Embakasi, the two jointly with another not before court were allegedly engaged in operating a bulk LPG facility without the certificate from EPRA.

They also face 10 counts of manslaughter as they are accused of causing death of 10 people .

The two were granted a cash bail of Ksh.1 million with two contacts each.

The February 1, fire that occurred at night left over 250 people injured.
