While giving his evidence-in-chief before Eldoret Principal Magistrate Cherono Kesse, Lomorukai, who is a professional footballer said that his father had once confided in him about his political enemies in the region.
He told the court that he was confronted and attacked by one of Turkana South Member of Parliament John Namoti Ariko’s close aides as he was leaving a hotel where he was playing pool.
Earlier on before the proceedings commenced, a contingent of administration and regular police in anti-riot gear was deployed at the court premises to avert a clash between scores of supporters allied to the Turkana South MP and those of the governor.
Supporters of the feuding political leaders who included college and university students had camped at the law court compound as early as 7.30 am thereby heightening tension and anxiety forcing the security personnel to secure the premises.
During the trial, Lomorukai junior recalled that as he was waiting for his elder brother at the parking yard, he was slapped by someone whom he later identified as Peter Etung who was joined by other people in beating him.
The governor’s son told the court that he fell down on his stomach after he was beaten and that his friend who was with him came to his rescue.
Lomoruka, who is represented by lawyer Richard Warigi said that when his elder brother Lavish alighted from a vehicle that he was driving, his attackers ran towards the hotel leaving him writhing pain on the ground.
The court heard that his brother drove him to Lodwar town where he reported the assault incident and was issued with a P3 form before being taken to Lodwar county referrals hospital where he was treated and discharged.
However, a medical report he presented in court as exhibit showed that there was no blood stain on his clothes or body contrary to claims that he sustained severe injuries on his body.
The governor’s youngest son was testifying in a case where eight people among them Turkana South MP John Namoti Ariko are charged with assaulting and causing actual bodily harm on him.
The accused persons also faced a second count of conspiracy to defeat justice contrary to Section 117(a) of the penal code.
Other suspects charged with the MP include Peter Lokutuni, David Nangiro, Jemostar Akooyen, Bornfestus Nabuin, Joseph Ekitela, Sammy Ekitele and James Abel.
