Trump hires Dusit hero as his bodyguard

A former SAS soldier who rescued hostages during the DusitD2 attack terrorist attack in 2019 has been hired to join US President-elect Donald Trump's personal security team.

The Mail publication reports that, Christian Craighead, not his real name, will be part of the security team for Trump’s inauguration in Washington on January 20.

The 48-year-old soldier is said to be ‘working in the shadows’ around Trump and has been tasked with organising reconnaissance at locations where he is due to appear in public.

A family member told the Mail that Trump has always admired Craighead and they have forged a close friendship over the years.

“Trump first reached out to Chris after the terror attack, telling him how much he admired his actions. They have kept in regular touch ever since. He’s also good friends with Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jnr, and his former partner, Kimberly Guilfoyle, having spent time with them in Miami,” the member was quoted.

During the DusitD2 attack, Craighead had been reportedly posted to Nairobi to help train Kenya’s security forces in counter-terrorism.

His fellow SAS veteran Chris Ryan said that he was off-duty and out shopping when he was told hostages had been taken when he grabbed weapons from his truck and ‘organised the entire operation’.

Craighead was thanked by Trump during his first term in office after he led the operation to save British and American hotel guests who were being held captive by al-Shabaab terrorists in Nairobi.

The attack began at around 14:30, shortly after a suicide bomber blew himself up near the center of the complex at a restaurant.

Four attackers then carried out a mass shooting which left 21 civilians, one Kenyan soldier and all five militants dead.
