Transport paralysed on Mtwapa-Kilifi Road after floods cut off Mbogolo bridge
Raging flood
waters have severed the Mbogolo Bridge situated on the Mtwapa - Kilifi Road,
thereby disrupting traffic flow to and from Mombasa.
In a statement issued
on Saturday, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) advised motorists to
use the Mombasa-Mazeras-Kaloleni-Mavueni-Kilifi road as an alternative
route.
"Currently, a
new bridge is being constructed in this area as part of the Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi
Road Project. KeNHA staff are on site to help restore traffic passage through
the affected road section," the State agency said in the statement.
KeNHA further
asked motorists to show restraint as efforts to reinstate the normal flow of
traffic on the road are underway.
