Trans Mara land row: Attackers destroy 15,000 acres of maize
Tension remains high in Angata area along the border of Trans Mara West in Narok County after unknown people raided and slashed several acres of maize plantation on a 15,000-acre piece of land on New Year’s Eve.
The residents have condemned the incident which has since been linked to border disputes and a deteriorating state of security in the area.
According to reports, the malicious operation is believed to have started on December 29, 2024, leaving residents counting losses.
The residents are now demanding immediate action from the government to address the declining state of security in the area linking it to existing border disputes
Trans Mara South OCPD Bashir Ali has expressed optimism about ongoing efforts to engage the neighbouring communities following a series of consultative meetings between the security teams from Narok and Migori Counties.
Bashir also confirmed that the latest incident is under active investigation.
