Tragedy as husband and wife burn to death in house fire

According to preliminary reports from the incident, Peter Kimani Kuria and Mirriam Muthoni, a husband and wife, were burned to death when their house caught fire while they were sleeping.

Investigations have begun into the deaths of a couple from Rare village in the Lari area, who are said to have died in a house fire.

According to preliminary reports from the incident, Peter Kimani Kuria and Mirriam Muthoni, a husband and wife, were burned to death when their house caught fire while they were sleeping.

The fire tragedy was reportedly caused by an electrical fault, according to neighbours, who reported multiple power outages in recent days.

According to Benjamin Gatambia, a neighbour who spoke to the media at the scene of the fatal fire, Peter Kimani's body was discovered burned beyond recognition in what used to be their bedroom.

His wife's body, on the other hand, was discovered close to the main door, indicating that she attempted to unbolt it during the tragedy.

The bodies were taken to the City Mortuary shortly after the incident.

Gitithia Location Chief Samuel Kahoro confirmed the incident, telling the media that investigations into the fire are ongoing and that a final report would be made public.

He stated that he would follow up with Kenya Power and Lighting Company to conduct a thorough audit of the losses of properties where residents had fled due to power outages.
