Tob Cohen murder: Sarah Wairimu to be remanded for 5 days
Wairimu was re-arrested on Thursday after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Renson Ingonga, stated there was overwhelming evidence showing that she murdered her husband at their home in Lower Kabete.
High Court Judge Diana Kavenza noted that both parties had submitted extensive arguments, and she required more time to address all the issues in detail.
The judge will also rule on whether the suspect will undergo a mental assessment following a request from the DPP through lawyer Vincent Monda.
However, Wairimu's defense team objected, asserting that the prosecution had not provided sufficient grounds for another mental evaluation.
“There is no need to subject her to another mental assessment,” the defense argued in court.
The defense also questioned whether the prosecution could introduce new evidence after a nolle prosequi had previously been entered.
Monda countered that issues of evidence would be addressed during the trial.
Wairimu was first arrested in 2019 after Cohen’s body was discovered in a septic tank at their Kitisuru home.
