Three suspects linked to theft of items worth over Ksh.3M arrested

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have apprehended three suspects linked to the theft of electronic items, USD 24,500 (Ksh.3.16 million) in cash and other valuable items.

DCI said that the trio, Lenah Khamatioli (28), Ian Kavaya (28), and Peninah Mutola (32), was nabbed at their hideout in Kawangware after a weeks-long manhunt.

The items are said to have been stolen from a South Sudanese national's house in Westlands on September 24 and reported the matter at DCI Kilimani offices.

"The house owner arrived at her home located along Rahpta Road to find her house girl missing, and along with her USD 24,500, an iPhone 15, a Samsung Z Flip and several pieces of jewellery," said DCI said on Monday.

DCI added that the trio was also found in possession of a Boxer motorcycle, a 55-inch Vitron TV, a Hanmac microwave, a HP laptop, a NNix cooker oven, a 6kg Pro gas cylinder, a five-sitter sofa, a mattress, two watches, and three brand-new Samsung A50 phones.

They also seized an agreement to purchase a parcel of land in Kapkangani, Nandi County, valued at Ksh.423,000.

They will remain in police custody awaiting arraignment.
