Three suspects were arraigned at the Embu Law Courts on Friday for allegedly demanding a bribe to facilitate the recruitment of two sisters into the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).

The three, Justa Njura, James Njogu and Ruth Koki, appeared before Embu Resident Magistrate Dorcas Endoo.

They denied the charges and were released on a bond of Ksh.500,000 with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of Ksh.250,000 with one contact person

The accused were charged that on diverse dates of 16th and 19th April 2024 at Embu township, with intent to defraud, they obtained money totalling Ksh.469,000 from Samuel Muia Mutua "falsely pretending that you were in a position to secure a job opportunity at Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) for his two daughters a fact you knew to be false."

The three are said to have continued giving the complainer hope that his two daughters would join KWS until he decided to seek police help.

The magistrate set the matter for a pretrial on July 7, 2024 and mention on May 6, 2024.
