Three people killed, 41 others injured after Dreamline bus crashes in Londiani
Three people were on
Saturday morning killed while 41 others sustained injuries in a traffic
accident at Nukiat area on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.
The crash occurred after the driver of a Dreamline bus carrying
44 passengers en route Busia from Mombasa lost control while negotiating a
corner at Londiani.
A police report seen by Citizen Digital indicated that one
male passenger, a female and a child were confirmed dead on the spot.
“The said bus was being driven from Mombasa via Londiani
Junction towards Siaya (Fort Victoria). Upon reaching the accident scene, the
driver, Abdalla Masen Mohamed, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a
corner, causing it to land on the left side of the road as one faces Muhoroni
direction from Londiani,” read the report.
“As a result of the accident, two adults (a male and a female)
and one child—a total of three fatalities, all still unidentified—were
confirmed dead on the spot.”
Those injured were rushed to the Londiani sub-county hospital
with some in serious condition and others nursing minor injuries.
The bus has since been towed to the police station pending
inspection while the driver was treated and released and is being interrogated
as investigations into the incident continue.
