Three people dead, several injured after school bus accident in Tharaka Nithi

Three people have been confirmed dead following a Saturday morning accident at Njuri area on the Meru-Embu highway in Tharaka Nithi County.

According to a police report, the accident involved a Ruiri Girls High School bus which was ferrying faithful of Thau Methodist Church from Tigania West in Meru County to Karen, Nairobi, for a wedding ceremony.

Meru South OCPD Eunia Onyancha confirmed the incident saying eight occupants of the ill-fated bus are hospitalized in critical condition while the rest sustained minor injuries.

The bus had 46 passengers aboard during the time of the accident.

Ms. Onyancha has thus cautioned drivers against over-speeding, especially along the Meru-Embu routes which are full of bends.
