Three arrested, large bhang consignment nabbed in NACADA crackdown in Kisii

Police seize sacks of suspected cannabis sativa in a high-profile raid in Mwamogeza Village, Kisii County.

Three suspects have been arrested and a large consignment of suspected cannabis sativa nabbed following a crackdown in Mwamogeza Village, Kisii County.

The multi-agency operation, led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), uncovered seven 50kg sacks, four 90kg sacks, and two large carrier bags of the illicit substance hidden in rental houses.

According to NACADA, the prime suspect, Geoffrey Nyabira, alias Jeff—a notorious drug lord—escaped arrest but the manhunt for him is underway.

“We are not relenting in our pursuit of drug barons, their merchants, and distribution networks,” stated NACADA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Anthony Omerikwa. “This seizure is a testament to our resolve. We will hunt down every individual profiting from the destruction of our youth and communities.”

Authorities are working to determine the street value of the seized drugs while intensifying efforts to track down Nyabira, who has repeatedly evaded arrest.

Dr. Omerikwa urged the public to support the fight against drug abuse by reporting suspicious activities. “Community involvement is key. Your tip could save lives and help us dismantle these criminal networks for good.”

The NACADA boss noted that more operations are expected across the country as the government intensifies efforts to curb drug abuse at its source.
