Thousands take home Christmas goodies as Safaricom Sambaza Furaha Caravan traverses Nandi, Kericho
The tour by Safaricom, in partnership with Royal Media Services, to various parts of the country to celebrate 24 years of service entered its fourth day.
The Safaricom technology company caravan, dubbed ‘Safaricom Share the Joy,’ thrilled in Kericho and Nandi counties, making various stops at Kipsitet, Nandi Hills, Kapsabet, Mosoriot and Kapsere to reward Kenyans this Christmas season.
The tour also served to inform Kenyans about the importance of buying an insurance policy to protect their phones in case of theft or damage.
Along the way, fans were winning big, including boda boda riders.
“You now can insure your phone using M-Pesa. Itakuwa kama saa if it is lost or if the screen is scratched, we now have such services,” said Chief Financial Services Officer Esther Waititu.
Kenyans are also advised to be cautious with their private data used for sending or receiving money.
“We are telling people today that Pin yako ni siri yako, please don’t give out your pin. That pin makes you safe,” Ms Waititu said.
Safaricom Business Manager Melchizedek Munyongi added, “Most
of our customers are conned through such calls; if you see someone calling you
through their own personal number, they are fraudsters.”
On the final leg of the first week, the caravan will traverse Langas, Chepkoilel, Ziwa, Soi, Maili Tisa, and Maili Nne, concluding in Eldoret Town.
