'The Buck Stops with You!' Kalonzo slams Ruto over 'State-Sponsored' abductions
In a statement titled, "The Buck stops with you, William Samoei Ruto", Musyoka said it is unfortunate that the government has taken a back seat on enforced disappearances of persons, terming it the greatest violation of human rights.
“...The Ruto regime embarked with shocking familiarity, the practice of abducting our youth just because their expressed their opinion, drew pictures, created artwork widely shared on social media that Mr Ruto did not like. This terrible practice of Abduction by hooded brutes is reminiscent of the dreaded Adolf Hitler Nazi militias,” Musyoka stated, calling for immediate action.
The Wiper leader alleged that the abduction of youth is a state-sponsored move aimed at silencing dissenting voices in the country.
“Up to date, and given that none of these balaclava-wearing gangsters captured clearly on CCTV have been arrested, there can only be one conclusion: they receive their instructions directly from State House, Nairobi,” Musyoka claimed.
Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni also weighed in, referencing political cartoons and expressing outrage over the targeting of youth.
“What is wrong if I draw President Ruto and say he is not a good person? Even he once drew me with a cooking pot on my head. That is the reality, but our youth do not need to be abducted for that,” Kioni remarked.
The opposition coalition highlighted that as the year comes to a close, hundreds of families continue to mourn loved ones killed during anti-government protests.
These protests, which led to the dropping of the controversial Finance Act of 2024, resulted in deaths allegedly at the hands of police officers.
“On June 25th, the youth impeached Parliament. Many were killed, but no single police officer has been charged,” Musyoka noted, emphasizing the lack of accountability.
The leaders are now urging President William Ruto to condemn the abductions and take decisive action to restore human rights in the country.
