Outgoing Environment Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has thanked
his boss, President William Ruto for reassigning him to the Health ministry in
the latest Cabinet reshuffles.
Taking to social media hours after the Head of State made new
changes to his Cabinet, Duale expressed his gratitude to the President for the move
to the fairly lucrative and controversial Health docket.
CS Duale lauded his efforts at the helm of the Environment ministry,
exuding confidence that he had positively advanced government policies, and
committing to show the same energy in his new role.
"The prosperity of a nation depends on the health of its
people. I am deeply grateful to President William Ruto for his trust and confidence in appointing me
to lead the Ministry of Health,” stated Duale.
“It has been an honour serving at the Ministry of Environment,
Climate Change & Forestry, where we advanced key environmental and climate
action policies. In my new role, I remain committed to working with relevant
stakeholders in driving government policies that strengthen healthcare
delivery, ensuring accessible and quality services for all Kenyans.”
The CS, who now replaces Dr Deborah Barasa who was swapped to
the Environment ministry, reiterated that his priority would be to “advance the
Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to guarantee equitable healthcare access,
especially for vulnerable populations.”
“Health is central to the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation
Agenda (BETA), and I look forward to fostering inter-ministerial collaboration
to enhance service delivery and improve lives across the nation.”
President Ruto said the changes made to his Cabinet were
meant to implement the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
In a statement signed by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei,
the President also nominated Hanna Wendot Cheptumo to the Ministry of Gender.
Cheptumo is the widow of the late Baringo Senator William
Cheptumo, who died last month while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
