Teacher in court for allegedly circulating KCPE exam papers in Kiambu
A
Kiambu teacher who was arrested Thursday on allegations of circulating national
examination papers has pleaded not guilty after he was arraigned in Nairobi on
Monday.
Appearing
before Senior Principal Magistrate Benard Ochoi, Nicholas Ngumbau was accused
of opening 10 accounts on WhatsApp and Telegram, where he was reportedly
selling KPCE examination papers at Ksh.1,500 and Ksh.2,000 for papers that allegedly came
with a marking scheme.
The
court ordered Ngumbau to deposit a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 and provide one
contact person or an alternative Ksh.200,000 bond with two sureties.
The
teacher was arrested last Thursday in the Gikambura area in Kiambu after
detectives infiltrated his groups posing as students seeking to purchase the
examination papers.
The
case will be mentioned on November 13.
