Taveta residents protest grabbing of community ranches

Kasighau residents in Voi Sub County demonstrated against the County Government land officials for allegedly colluding with a few individuals to grab four ranches belonging to the community.

Speaking during the demonstration, the residents claimed that local leadership starting with the area chief, the Member of the County Assembly, the Senator and the Governor’s Office are colluding with the four ranches directors.

The residents claim that when they confronted the ranch directors, the directors said that they were acting on instructions from the County leaders.

The residents said that the ranches belonged to the community since independence wondering why the county government land officials are colluding with the few individuals to turn the ranches into private entities.

The residents claimed that Mbale, Maungu, Amaka and Rukinga ranches may be privatized if action not taken fast enough.
