Police in Machakos have arrested one person in possession of 200 kilograms of bhang worth about Ksh.6.9 million.

The suspect, James Otieno Odero, was nabbed after his vehicle was intercepted along Mombasa Road, heading towards Kikima in Mbooni, Makueni Count.

Odero is said to have been trafficking the narcotic drug from Migori through Machakos to Makueni.

According to police reports, the suspect who was using a Toyota Wish Model also had six other number plates which the police believe he had been altering to evade police dragnets.

The number plate displayed in the vehicle during the arrest was KBT 144V while KCC 166C was displayed at the insurance. The other plates found include KBY 510P, KCC 611C, KBL 458N and KDD 470N.

Officers conducted a quick interrogation and the suspect had neither an identity card nor a driving licence.

At the same time, the county security team burned and destroyed 10 gambling machines in the town.
