Sudanese civil society and political groups convene in Nairobi to address crisis

According to their spokesperson, Izzadin Al Safi, who also serves as the special advisor to the RSF commander, the goal of the convention is not to form a government or sign any agreements toward that end. Instead, the group is focused on developing proposals to urgently address the humanitarian crisis and, ultimately, bring an end to the ongoing war in Sudan.
The group further explains that choosing Kenya as the venue for the talks is a direct result of the historic 2005 peace meeting, which led to more than a decade of peace in Sudan.
This decision is also in line with the vision of Sudan’s founding fathers.
In addition, the group is calling on the international community to support the peace process by refraining from taking sides and allowing the deliberations to proceed freely, particularly in neighboring countries.
