Stranger sneaks into Bomet village, rapes 10-year-old girl before vanishing

Police in Konoin, Bomet County, have launched investigations after a stranger raped a 10-year-old girl at Boito village before vanishing to an unknown place.

The suspect, according to police, lured the minor to accompany him while crossing a water stream at Kimargis area before he dragged her into a nearby scrub and raped her.

The mother of the victim, who is a widow, said a group of people crossing the stream heard the wild cry of her child and raised alarm, attracting villagers who came and rushed her to Kapkatet hospital where she is recuperating.

"We were preparing for a fund drive at home, my child was playing with other children as usual in the neighborhood…I don't know how the suspect managed to picked her without anyone raising eyebrows,” said the mother.

Konoin sub-county police boss David Kandie confirmed the incident, appealing to anyone who might have crucial information about the heinous act to record the statement with the authorities.
