Stranded teen mother successfully delivers after going into labour on Ngong Road

Vivian Nduta, a 19-year-old teen mother, has a reason to smile after she successfully and safely delivered her newborn baby on Wednesday after being stranded on the streets.

Vivian was walking along Ngong road headed to Mbagathi hospital to deliver her baby when she went into labour and was forced to deliver at The Nairobi Women's Hospital, Adams Arcade branch.

Being 15 kilometres away from her hospital of choice and with no money to board a matatu or motorcycle, Nduta was lucky to find a good samaritan who took her to the nearest hospital, The Nairobi Women's Hospital where she was readily received and supported.

“We received a young lady who needed emergency delivery services after being brought to the facility by a good Samaritan who was walking alongside her along Ngong road.

We attended to her and she safely delivered her baby. As a hospital, we decided to offer this maternity service to the lady for free as an act of kindness and service to humanity” said the hospital manager.

The young mother was later on discharged after successfully delivering a  healthy bouncing baby boy.

“I am really grateful to the good Samaritan who took me to hospital and also to The Nairobi Women’s Hospital staff who helped me deliver my baby safely and free of charge. Sijui ningefanya  nini kama singepata huu usaidizi” uttered Vivian.
