The National Assembly is set to convene for a special sitting on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.

Speaker Justin Muturi made the announcement in a notice on Friday following a request from the leader of majority Amos Kimunya who was acting on a presidential order.

The caucus, which will have a morning and afternoon session, will be held at Parliament Building's National Assembly Chamber at 10am and 2:30pm respectively.

"It is hereby notified to all Members of the National Assembly and the general public that Wednesday, 13th July, 2022 has been appointed as a day for Special Sittings of the National Assembly," the notice reads in part.

According to Muturi, President Uhuru Kenyatta will convey an urgent message to the lawmakers during the special sitting.

The National Assembly’s Budget and Appropriations Committee is also expected to table a report on the County Governments' Additional Allocations Bill while the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations will also consider a motion on the approval of the ratification of a Defence Cooperation agreement between Kenya, the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.

"First Reading, Second Reading, Committee of the Whole House and the Third Reading of the County Governments Additional Allocations Bill will also be discussed," noted Speaker Muturi.

"Consideration in Committee of the Whole House and Third Reading of the Huduma Bill will be on the agenda and any other priority business certified as urgent by the Speaker."
