Speaker Muturi recalls Parliament for special sitting
The National Assembly is set to
convene for a special sitting on Wednesday, July 13, 2022.
Speaker Justin Muturi made the
announcement in a notice on Friday following a request from the leader of majority
Amos Kimunya who was acting on a presidential order.
The caucus, which will have a
morning and afternoon session, will be held at Parliament Building's National
Assembly Chamber at 10am and 2:30pm respectively.
"It is hereby notified to
all Members of the National Assembly and the general public that Wednesday,
13th July, 2022 has been appointed as a day for Special Sittings of the
National Assembly," the notice reads in part.
According to Muturi, President
Uhuru Kenyatta will convey an urgent message to the lawmakers during the
special sitting.
The National Assembly’s Budget
and Appropriations Committee is also expected to table a report on the County
Governments' Additional Allocations Bill while the Departmental Committee on
Defence and Foreign Relations will also consider a motion on the approval of
the ratification of a Defence Cooperation agreement between Kenya, the United
Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
"First Reading, Second
Reading, Committee of the Whole House and the Third Reading of the County
Governments Additional Allocations Bill will also be discussed," noted
Speaker Muturi.
"Consideration in Committee
of the Whole House and Third Reading of the Huduma Bill will be on the agenda
and any other priority business certified as urgent by the Speaker."
