Slum upgrade programme causes jitters in Awendo
The report from the Awendo municipality board indicates that a number of the dwellers are worried that the tarmacking of the roads within the state is going to affect a number of structures within the slum.
Awendo municipality board member in charge of town planning Johnson Owiro said some of the roads have been expanded hence some buildings are now falling within the road reserved.
Owiro said they feel that some of the roads within the municipality should not be expanded to an extent that they might force individuals to bring down houses among other structures.
He said the residents have embraced the project funded by the World Bank, and it would be important that it does more good than harm to them.
The Awendo municipality member said they have tried to reach out to the implementers of the projects to consider the concerns from the members of the public but they are not willing.
