Detectives from the
Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested three suspected drug
traffickers in Maji Mazuri, Mwiki, Nairobi County and recovered a large
consignment of bhang.
The officers, drawn from
the Anti-Narcotics Unit and Operations Action Team, apprehended the main
suspect, 38-year-old Serah Wambui Nyaguthi, at her residence after acting on a
tip-off from members of the public.
“A search of the premises
led to the discovery of 67 bales and five sacks of cannabis sativa meticulously
concealed within the house,” said the DCI in an X on Saturday.
After some grilling, Nyaguthi
led the detectives to two of her associates, Miriam Omwoso Away and Moses Karanja.
“Further interrogation of
Nyaguthi yielded crucial information, leading to the arrest of two additional
suspects, 43-year-old Miriam Omwoso Aywa and 32-year-old Moses Karanja,” said
the DCI.
The trio was escorted to Muthaiga
Police Station, while the confiscated drugs were taken to DCI headquarters for
safe custody as exhibits.
Elsewhere in Embakasi, police have arrested three suspects
in possession of 181 rolls of bhang and 10 kilograms of unprocessed marijuana.
The three suspects, Sam Muthoka Musembi, Peter David Mumo,
and Dorris Rashma Mutil, are being held
at Embakasi Police Station pending processing and arraignment.
