Simon Ngige arrested over links to 9 murders of women, children in Nyandarua
Simon Ngige has been arrested over links to nine killings that targeted women and children in Nyandarua County for six months in 2020.
Investigators said the suspect has been on the run since last year but was arrested in Naivasha town.
According to Nyandarua West Sub-County Police Commander (SCPC) Wanyama Nyongesa, Ngige confessed to two chilling murders.
“He admitted to killing Ms. Eunice Muthoni Ndung’u and her 5-year old daughter Linet Njeri on April 23 last year by hacking them with a machete,” the SCPC said.
The suspect is reported to have confessed to accessing the house where the two lived with other children in Chekaleri village, Ol Joro Orok.
He allegedly told police that he dug a tunnel through the wall of their mud house.
The 30-year-old woman and her daughter, a grade one pupil, succumbed to head injuries while undergoing treatment at the Nyahururu County Referral Hospital.
Ngige is reported to have also confessed to having killed 23-year-old Alice Wanjiru in a similar manner on March 25, 2020 in Gatumbiro village, Ol-Joro-Orok constituency.
Police data indicates that about nine people, most of them women and children, were murdered in the area in a span of six months in 2020.
Mr. Nyongesa said that they are investigating the possibility of the suspect having been involved in the other murder cases as they were executed in the same manner.
He said that the suspect is will be arraigned in court to face murder charges once investigations area concluded.
