Siaya County says it has new evidence against Deputy Governor Oduol
The Siaya county government has come forward with what they claim to be new evidence of abuse of office and misuse of public resources against its deputy governor of William Oduol.
Through its Chief of Staff Cyrus Oguna, the County government said the new evidence of abuse of office by Oduol touches on manipulation and influencing payment to certain contractors which is contrary to the public procurement and asset disposal Act and public finance management Act.
Oguna expressed the county’s commitment to cooperating with EACC to stem corruption in Siaya.
“Calling upon the EACC to quickly open investigations on claims by one Hon. William Oduol, the current Deputy Governor. His claims centred on flagrant misuse of public funds, denial of his priviledges and victimisation of officers among others,” Oguna said.
He faulted EACC for delayed investigations on the loss of Kshs.600 million during the previous administration.
“We reiterate that the issue of the Kshs.600million is ahistorical issue which has been under investigation for more than 2years, long before this current government took office.”
In a response to Oguna’s presser, Oduol dismissed it as diversionary antics aimed at confusing the public affirming that he will be willing to step aside for investigations should he be implicated in the graft within the executive in Siaya.
Oduol expressed his lack of confidence in the County Assembly, saying he was ready to appear for an impeachment motion in the Senate.
