'She started speaking in tongues before attacking her daughter'

Olivia Naserian appearing in court on April 25, 2023.

The disturbing video, which was captured by a neighbor who was among the first responders to the commotion heard Sunday evening this week, shows Olivia Naserian sitting naked, sharpening a knife while singing, before shockingly slaughtering her 2-year-old daughter.

She had locked herself inside the house, according to the neighbors, and they could only watch helplessly as she dismembered the baby before eating parts of her organs.

The suspect's distraught relatives say they are still processing what happened.

According to a close family member of the suspect, the 24-year-old had just returned home from kirinyaga, where she had moved eight months ago.

Her family claims she returned to Nairobi a completely different person.

They couldn't figure out what she was going through while she was away at her boyfriend's Kirinyaga home; a week after her return, the inexplicable happened.

‘’The neighbours told us that Naiserian started speaking in tongues and chased after the only dog in the house before attacking her daughter.  The mother also noted some weird behaviour from her daughter, she shared that the last time they were together, she would jump on her and show her lots of love,” she said.

Some of the neighbours who spoke to Citizen.Digital on the condition of anonymity said they heard commotion coming from the house, prompting them to respond.

They initially mistook the incident for a robbery until they discovered the shocking scene, at which point they rushed to Kitengela police station to report the incident.

When police arrived at the crime scene, they discovered the suspect had blacked out, apprehended her, and detained her at the Kitengela police station.

Naiserian appeared before chief magistrate Jane Kamau in a Kajiado court on Tuesday, and the court ordered that she remain in police custody for another 10 days to allow police officers to complete their investigations.

Naserian is expected back in court on May 8.

Meanwhile, the remains of her daughter were moved to Kitengela's main hospital morgue
