Sharon Otieno murder: Safaricom employee tells court Obado was not present at crime scene

An employee of leading telecommunications provider Safaricom on Tuesday told the court that former Migori Governor Okoth Obado was not at the scene where Sharon Otieno was allegedly killed.

While testifying in the case where Obado and two others have been charged with the murder of the Rongo University student and her unborn child, Quinto Odek Etyang told the court that Obado was in Nairobi throughout the night of September 2 to September 5, 2018.

Etyang also testified on M-Pesa transactions that were allegedly made by a witness who was under witness protection between August 1 to September 6, 2018.

During cross examination, the witness said that on September 2, 2018 at 1650hrs, Obado was captured at Suswa in Rift Valley. 

He went ahead to tell the court that at 1732hrs, the former Migori Governor was captured by the cell tower at Mai Mahiu.

The court was further told that at 1803hrs, Obado was at Sigona, and still on the same day at 1827hrs, he was captured at Lavington.

“I confirm that throughout the night of 2nd going to third the subscriber spent his night at Lavington,” he stated.

Hearing in the case continues on Wednesday.
