Seven killed in multi-vehicle crash on Narok-Mai Mahiu Road
Seven people lost their lives on Monday morning in two separate but related road accidents involving six motor vehicles and a motorcycle along the Narok-Mai Mahiu Road.
Police reports indicate that the 10 am accident occurred when a trailer, en route to Mai Mahiu from Narok, lost control after one of its tyres burst, ramming into a Toyota Premio, ENA Coach bus and a Narok-Line Matatu and causing them to veer off in different directions.
Three of the matatu's occupants died on the spot.
Soon after a second speeding trailer, en route to Narok, arrived at the accident scene colliding head on with a Toyota Prado as it attempted to circumvent the scene.
Two of the Prado's occupants died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries sustained at Narok County Referral Hospital.
The trailer likewise ran over a motorcycle, killing two pillion passengers instantly.
"Two occupants of the Prado died on the spot and a third died later at Narok County Hospital. The second trailer knocked down a motor cycle and killed two pillion passengers on the spot," a police report documenting the incident reads.
The bodies of the deceased persons have since been moved to the aforementioned hospital's morgue for storage and identification while an unknown number of injured survivors are being treated at the facilities.
The wreckages of the six vehicles
and motorcycle have been towed to Ntulele Police Station for inspection.
