The Senate has joined a list of government agencies decrying financial constraints that have affected its operations.

Senators are accusing the government of deliberately underfunding them, warning that they will retaliate by rejecting bills that need to be passed by the Senate.

The Senate joins County governments, public schools, among other State institutions that are currently facing financial crisis.

In a mid-term assessment retreat held in Naivasha, Senate deputy minority leader Enoch Wambua said the fund shortage has prompted members to use their funds in work-related travels.

The Kitui Senator blamed the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) for what he termed as siding with the National Assembly.

Addressing the press, Wambua also faulted Senate Speaker Amason Kingi over his role in political meetings organized by the government.

Kingi was however quick to deny allegations of impartiality as alleged, noting that every Senator had a role in the house.

He admitted that the Senate faced challenges, but urged members to perform their role by making sure devolution worked.

On his part, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale admitted that the funding crisis was affecting their operations and challenged PSC to resolve it urgently.

Khalwale further vowed to work on a bill to tame abduction incidences in the country.
