Senate endorses controversial poll laws

A manual backup voting system in next year’s elections is headed to become a reality after the senate endorsed controversial amendments this evening. Jubilee rallied its superior numbers to push through the amendments amid dogged resistance from the opposition. The changes now await President Kenyatta’s signature after the national assembly approved them in a stormy session late last year.
