Samuel Ngure: Body of man who disappeared 3 weeks ago found at City Mortuary
The body of a man who went missing three
weeks ago has been found at the Nairobi City Mortuary.
Samuel
Ngure, who disappeared on the 23rd of last month, was involved in an accident
along Magadi Road, with his family only confirming that he was dead on Friday
after Citizen TV highlighted his plight on Sunday.
"I'm
so exhausted, but at least I've seen my son. He was a graduate," said
Peterson Njeru, Ngure’s father.
Tears and sorrow marked the faces of the
family after they viewed the body of their son.
"He
is in pieces. His head has been cut off, the right leg is broken, and the left
side of the head is cut. He must have gone through a lot of pain," Ngure’s
mother Keziah Wanjiku said.
To
understand how he was brought to the City Mortuary, Citizen TV arrived at Lang’ata
Police Station after being informed that the station recorded the death, and
found Noah Wafula, who runs a tree nursery on Magadi Road, that leads to Rongai.
He
showed Samuel Ngure's alleged accident site.
"Alikuwa
na trouser ya kaki na alikuwa na majeraha kwa kichwa,” he said.
Witnesses,
including Zakariah Njaramba, a boda boda rider, recounted the incident on the
23rd of June saying Ngure was hit by a matatu.
"He
(matatu driver) hit him and tried to escape. We held him with stones, and he
came back to carry him and take him to the hospital,” Njaramba said.
Samuel
Ngure's family has transported his body from the City Mortuary to Uplands,
Kiambu County.
"He is
not an unidentified body. He is our son. We love him even in death,” Ngure's
father added.
