Sammy Cullin Maina has become a haunting name online, alongside his pictures, since he went missing under mysterious circumstances during the anti-Finance Bill protests.

According to a close friend, Maina went missing in early June, prompting family, friends, and the public to begin the search for his whereabouts online.

“He had gone to Ngara to visit a friend,” Maina’s friend Eddy Ollo said.

However, this week on Sunday, his family received heartbreaking news that a body resembling his had been delivered by the police to the city morgue.

The body was registered as unknown and was allegedly found near a car wash.

“The body was found in Kasarani,” said Mary Omari, the traffic police spokesperson.

“But his family is left with so many unanswered questions,” his friend Ollo added.

As these tragic events unfold, youths in Kendu Bay, Homa Bay County organised a candle-lighting memorial for the controversial death of Denzel Omondi, a student at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Omondi was found drowned at Mashimoni dam, Juja, after disappearing during the protests against the Finance Bill.

The youth urgently call upon the government to apprehend and prosecute those responsible for his tragic death.
