Sakaja degree saga: He has till noon to provide evidence
This is after four complainants raised issues touching on his academic qualifications, which they claim could have been acquired fraudulently.
Sakaja's lawyer, Adrian Kamotho, was granted the allowance on Sunday after pleading with the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Dispute Resolution Committee to pile up substantial findings on the allegations.
"I urge this tribunal to give me more time to file a formal application seeking to have one of three members of the IEBC tribunal recuse himself and also to answer the allegations filed against Mr.Sakaja," said Kamotho.
Sakaja is facing issues concerning his degree certificate from Team University in Uganda. Dennis Gakuo is one of the complainants who want his nomination revoked on the basis that he lacks a valid university degree.
Meanwhile, the University of Nairobi, from where Sakaja claims to be an Actuarial Science graduate, confirmed that the legislator has not yet cleared from the institution.
Additionally, the University has told the DCI that Sakaja’s transcripts are incomplete and have not been signed.
Pressure is now mounting on Sakaja to set the record straight on whether the allegations levelled against him are true.
He has however dismissed the claims terming them as propaganda.
"Next they will say that I wasn't born. Forget propaganda; sell your candidate. Our march is unstoppable, our faith is unshakeable and our victory is inevitable," Sakaja said in a past interview.
