Sakaja defends school feeding programme, says petitioner doesn't appreciate County's role

President William Ruto and Governor Sakaja distribute food to learners in Nairobi.
Sakaja, in response to a suit by Tunza Mtoto Coalition and John Muthoni Ouko, says the petitioners have failed to appreciate that the county has been playing a crucial role in the primary schools.
"She was one of the brains behind the National City Child Protection and Safeguarding policy as the same was introduced during her tenure and it is only its implementation that took place after she resigned," claims Sakaja
The county boss further says that they have collaborated with the county Government to ensure that the program is not discriminatory.
Through lawyer Duncan Okatch, Sakaja argues that the program does not amount to any violations and has asked the court to dismiss the case by the former Education County Boss.
In the case, the petitioners argue that the governor erred in launching the school feeding program.
"That is not a mandate of the counties rather it is the national government’s role."
