Sakaja appoints Mercy Mwangangi, Johansen Oduor, Githinji Gitahi to head city hospitals
Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has made new
appointments to boards of various city hospitals in a bid to streamline healthcare
delivery in the country’s capital.
Governor Sakaja, in a gazette notice seen by
Citizen Digital, appointed former Health Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS)
Mercy Mwangangi as the Chairperson of the Pumwani Hospital Board of Directors.
He likewise designated Evalyne Ikwii Omasaja,
Zahra Mohammed, Ustadh Hassan Ali Amin, Saidi Matokaa and Ali Joram Juma
Mkwambaa as members of the same board.
Chief Government Pathologist Dr. Johansen
Oduor will, in the new changes, lead the Nairobi Funeral home as Board Chairperson.
He will be joined by Prof. Vincent Onywera,
Dr. Edwin Oloo Walong, Dr.John Nderitu, Eunice Kanini Mutiso and Alex Maina
Mwangi who will sit on the board as members.
Amref Health Africa CEO Dr. Githinji Gitahi
will chair the Mbagathi Hospital board while Edna Agmetta Akinyi, Edwina Auma
Oliech, Faiz Ochieng Magak, Joram Fichingo Mwinamo and Martin Kanga
Adienge will join him as members.
Sakaja also appointed Dorcas Kemunto as Chairperson
of the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital alongside members Jennifer Mumbua Mutunga,
Susan Wanjiru Kamau , Yvonne Peris Alera Makhokha, Fridah Wambui Nduati and
Ronald Ngala Onianga.
Dr. Isaiah Tanui has been tasked with leading
the Mutuini Hospital Board while Brian Muchene, Nancy Wairimu Mbai, Oliver
Chiraba, Samuel Okwany and Salome Mbugua will sit on the same board as members.
Grace Omoni has been appointed as Chair of
the Pumwani Maternity College of Nursing and Widwifery where she will be joined
by members Albina Wangari Githuku, Isaac Kiprugut, Hellen Lusala, Alfred Obengo
and Diana Kapeen.
