Safaricom launches nationwide caravan to mark 24th anniversary
Safaricom has launched a nationwide caravan to celebrate 24 years since it began operations in Kenya, giving Kenyans a chance to win exciting prizes and celebrate Christmas with the telco under the theme 'Sambaza Furaha hii Krisi.'
The caravan was officially launched at Ndumberi Primary School in Kiambu County on Saturday. Over the next five weeks, it will visit regions across the country, with exciting celebrations planned in each.
This week, the caravan will be in the Rift Valley, followed by stops in the Mountain Region, Greater Western, the Mombasa region, and will conclude the celebrations in Nairobi.
"In October we kicked off our year-long celebration of Safaricom at 24 as we gear up to celebrate our silver jubilee next year. We are kicking off a five-week celebration of celebrating Christmas and bringing it closer to our customers...tunasambaza furaha," Lucille Aveva, Director, Customer Obsession at Safaricom, said during the launch.
"There is a lot that has been planned cross the five regions, kicking off here in. This week will be in the rift, then the Mountain region, Freater Western, Mombasa region and then finishing off the five week celebration in Nairobi."
Aveva further reiterated that Safaricom would return the loyalty customers have shown over the years by making the Christmas celebration extra special.
She added that the company’s customers had supported Safaricom since its inception, and this initiative was their way of giving back and spreading happiness during the festive season.
Safaricom was founded in 1997 as a fully owned subsidiary of Telkom Kenya, before a 40 percent acquisition by Vodafone Group PLC in May 2000, and a public offering of 25 percent shares through the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in 2008.
Safaricom is listed on the NSE and, as of March 2024, its annual revenues stood at Ksh.349.4 billion.
