Ruto warns livestock farmers against opposing planned vaccination
Speaking in Kilgoris while meeting locals and grassroot leaders from Maasai counties, President Ruto said the vaccination exercise will be optional when the rollout begins.
President Ruto says the planned vaccination is meant to boost livestock yields and improve the quality of meat export. The President told Narok residents that Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu, together with the national government, has rolled out a joint meat processing plant to export meat overseas. He added that opposing the vaccination would jeopardize the planned meat export.
“Hapa Narok, gavana wenu ametafuta marafiki wanaleta pesa...na pia sisi, national government tunaleta pesa ili muwe na the biggest meat processing plant hapa Narok ya kuexport nyama yenu...mnataka kuexport nyama mgonjwa?” posed Ruto
He further told the Narok residents that the vaccine rollout will be optional.
President Ruto added: “Itakuwa optional. Ukitaka, sawa. Kama hutaki, shauri yako...”
Majority and minority leaders who accompanied the President in Kilgoris took the opportunity to tell off former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has in the recent past mounted criticism on his former boss.
“Wale watu walichukuwa mbuzi ya Uhuru Kenyatta ndio walipanga bunge ivamiwe na State House ivamiwe, utolewe kwa kiti, and it’s none other than your former deputy...” said Ichungwa.
“Wewe tulikutoa na wabunge 300 na sasa unaenda huko nje kubwekbweka...unataja Raila kama nani?” posed Junet.
The locals in Kilgoris called on the President to look into the dilapidated state of roads in the constituency.
