President Ruto on Monday maintained that Kenya remains a committed partner in ensuring regional and international peace and security is achieved.

In an Annual Address to Heads of Mission and International Organisations, Ruto stated that the escalating wars in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) shall be Kenya's focus until stability is effected.

He noted that agreements made in the merged Nairobi and Luanda processes, an EAC-led regional peace initiative aimed at resolving the conflict in the region, should be honoured.

"It is regrettable that diplomatic missions and peacekeeping forces, including SADC and UN personnel, have come under attack in the DRC. We urged the DRC government to ensure the safety of diplomatic staff and peace missions," he noted.

President Ruto however lamented the insufficient funding offered for peace initiatives such as the DRC process, calling for a ramp-up of resources to allow for effective peacebuilding.

"To prevent this, we must establish a structured and predictable mechanism for funding peace initiatives," he stated.

The Head of State therefore proposed a meeting between the EAC and Southern African Development Community (SADC) ministers to establish a Joint Technical Team under the two regional secretariats.

He said the team would develop a coordinated strategy for financing, ensuring accountability and mobilizing support from partners to sustain the EAC-SADC peace initiative in the DRC.

Ruto has been among the leaders calling for a ceasefire in the wartorn parts of Congo as the EAC chair.

Boasting Kenya's rich economic capacity, Ruto urged international organisations to invest more and bolster every sector to improve livelihoods and strengthen bilateral ties.

"The diplomatic community serves as a vital bridge between nations, fostering dialogue and cooperation. I invite you to engage freely with my government on matters of mutual interest," Ruto noted.

"Kenya remains your dependable and committed partner in bilateral, regional, and global affairs."
